A thousand blessings onto the mangaka who wrote this series, Michinoku Atami, and the studio, EMT Squared, who made the anime. The anime series has 12 episodes, each about 3 minutes long. The series follow Ryo Sakaguchi, a straight male high school student – who just happens to love Boys Love! Sakaguchi is a Fudanshi (the male equivalent of a Fujoshi). The series Fudanshi Koukou Seikatsu follows his day to day life, meeting other BL lovers and how he balance his BL obsession with his friends.
Life of a Fudanshi, Fujoshi and all BL Lovers

I never thought I could connect to a character so much in just 3 minutes. Sakaguchi is pretty much the perfect representation of all BL lovers. His excitement at meeting other BL lovers, buying dojinshi and manga and even just shipping people together is so fantastically adorable and relatable. Having read the manga, I know there were a few more scenes that I would really have loved them to include. One of them is when Sakaguchi’s Fujoshi friend, Nishihara, lends him a character CD, and Sakaguchi found the voices too sexy and intense, was hilarious.

My only issue with the series is that they tried to introduce way too many characters in such a short space of time. We had the two best friends who were borderline BL, we had the Fudanshi next door who only appeared for like 2 minutes, and we also had the gorgeous Cooking Club Captain and his lapdog. I felt the series could have done a lot better with either, having longer episodes and developing these characters better, or just focusing on the Cooking Club Captain and his lapdog.
Overall I really enjoyed this series. I highly recommend it to any Fujoshi or Fudanshi out there, or even just for someone who is interested in why people are obsessed with BL. The series really does put you in the mind set of a BL fanatic, as well as how our friends and loved ones react to it. I give the series a 9/10
