A super big thank you to Raistlin903 and Remyfool for nominating me for the Blogger Recognition Award! Raistlin903’s blog is full of really interesting film, tv, book and even board game reviews. In each of his reviews he really takes the time to carefully analyse the media. By the time you finish reading his post, you want to quickly go out and watch that film or play that game! Remyfool runs ‘The Lily Garden’, filled with all your Yuri needs – from manga to anime to even visual novels. His posts are incredibly in depth, and have inspired me to go out and watch/read as much Yuri as I can.
The Rules
- Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog
- Give a brief story of how your blog started
- Give two pieces of advice for new bloggers

How KuroSamaReviews/Two Happy Cats Started
I started blogging in September, 2015. 2015 was probably one of the worst years of my life, I was so down in the dumps, I had pretty much no friends, and my university marks were going down. One of my friends in the UK mentioned that her friend had started writing a food blog, I had a look through it and was interested. I thought it over a bit and then I decided to make my very own anime blog. I wrote a bit more details of the story over here 🙂
Advice!
I know I’m meant to keep the advice focused on blogging, but the lovely two blogs that nominated me already put in the best advice. So I wanted to divide my two cents into blogging and general life.
- Blogging Advice: Participate in the lovely Arria’s Blogging Carnivals. Arria runs these really amazing Blog Carnivals, once a month, and they are honestly such a great way to get involved wiht the community. You can see what other things people are writing about, and also discover new blogs. On a more technical side, it’s also a great way to put your blog ‘out there’ and gain new followers. Each time I’ve participated in the carnival I’ve gained at least 3-4 new followers, and my view for the post I submitted has always gone up significantly.
- General Life Advice: Build on your positives, rather than focus on your negatives. Story time! When I was 13, I had just started High School, I had 3 really good friends, and it was nearing the end of my first term. Our maths teacher was reading out the results for our maths exam, and my 3 really good friends came 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the class. Now, I was happy for my friends, but I was also thinking to myself – why wasn’t I up there? Why was I sitting at this table alone? Now I was never good at maths, and probably never will be, but I applied myself to other subjects I was good at. I tried my best, and for the rest of High School, I made sure I was always called up (for every subject except for maths – there was no hope there). I reckon if I had focused on my inability for maths, tried my best, and still not done great, it would have been a massive hit to my self confidence. I still did work at maths, and gradually got better at it, but I spent a lot more time on things I was good at and enjoyed – which ended up having a lot better result.
What this kind of pompous story is trying to say is – Always try to find ways that you can do better, with the abilities you have. If you’re in school, find the subjects that you enjoy/ are good at and excel at them. If you suck at maths (like I do) don’t focus on being the top in maths, but if you’re good at English or history – smash it!
The End!
Unfortunately, I won’t be nominating any bloggers for this award. I’ve seen it go around the blogging community quite a lot, so I think pretty much everyone has done. If you would like to do it, comment down below or send me a DM on Twitter, and I will nominate you ^^
I hope you guys enjoyed my advice/ story. Have a wonderful weekend 🙂
That’s right, SMASH the heck outta your aces! What an inspirational tale, thanks for the advice and congrats on the award~!

Congratulations on your award! ^^ And great advice!
I think spending our energy on things we do not enjoy is such a big waste, indeed…
I will definitely check out the carnivals, they seem quite fun! 🙂

Thanks! I definitely recommend the carnivals 🙂 The current one is closing today, but they run every month if you don’t put a post in this time 🙂

Congrats! And I know, I have a few awards to respond to myself and don’t see myself nominating anyone because everyone in my circle has gotten it already. *sigh*

Thanks! The anime blogging community is always filled with awards! But it’s still a really cool way to help your readers get to know you a bit 🙂

Thank you for the kind words you wrote. Not only that, but I loved reading this post in it’s entirety. I think the above comment pretty much sums it up: truly inspirational. Keep up the great work you are doing 😀

Congratulations on the award! That was some great advice as well. I was always poor with Chemistry and Literature, and not getting top marks even after I put in so much work was a real mood killer, so I agree.. focus on your strengths!

Thank you :D! Oh my gosh chemistry killed me too! It is so discouraging when you work so hard at something and don’t get much return >_<!

Congrats on this super deserved award bb! 🎆🎇🎉🎊
Lovely stories, darling, and I’ll be sure to take that focus on the positives one to heart, cause i tend to focus on negatives and all the things i fail at, my perfectionism is a cunt tbh.
All the love for u bb 😘😘😘

Thank you ^^ I’m glad the stories help, oh my god perfectionism is!!! If only we could all be perfect people like Victor :’)

Perfectionism is the bane of my existence. But I’m not super duper perfectionist. Laziness is a big side of me, so if it involves more work than it’s worth it, I just let it be as is lazy > perfectionism, and it’s why my posts suck. Also why my blog is inconsistent in everything/posts 😹😹😹😹
Pffff, yes, like Viktor or Yurio pls. Let me have their fireness, their dedication, their motivation, their strive for the best 😭😭😭 /gross sobs

Congratulations Steph, you really deserve this. And that’s some good advice right there. Making yourself miserable over the things you’re not good at is only going to leave you unmotivated, while you could be creating something great through the gifts you have.
I was never great at Maths either. I got my passing grade, and that was good enough for me XD Being noticed in English lessons was more important to me, and even though my A Level exams were all flops *kicks self for staying on at shitty school instead of going to college* my English Literature coursework got an A. Writing is where I’m at, and it’s where I’m going to stay.

Thank you! Oh woah an A grade, that’s incredible! Although from reading your blog posts, I could already tell you were a really talented writer ^_^

Thanks for the flattering words.
I’m sorry to hear 2015 was so rough for you, but I’m glad it’s what pushed you to make a blog. Ah, that sounds a little messed up. The point is, I’m happy to have bumped into you and I’m sure everyone feels the same way.
You gave some great advice, too. Keep being awesome! c:
