Love Esquire Demo Review – Here For the Girls!

Love Esquire is the latest, and probably most ambitious, gaming project by YangYang Mobile. The Phillipines based company released their first commercial game, ‘The Letter’ last year. The game maintains a 9/10 rating on Steam, and has been on my ‘must play’ list for the last few months. While ‘The Letter’ is a horror-mystery VN, ‘Love Esquire’ branches into completely new territory with a romantic-comedy RPG game. Play as a nameable protagonist who has just four months to get laid before fighting in his first war. But, you know, maybe try to train or learn to fight between all the flirting!

I knew I was in for a wild ride with this game when the opening segment called me a ‘nerd’. I was immediately blown away by the game’s gorgeous graphics, voice acting and really funny pop culture references. The demo goes through the game’s first six days (out of the four months). Each day you can plan your heroes activities from training skills like charisma and strength to chatting with the girls. As your bond with each girl rises you can get special segments with her, and of course a happy ending. From the Kickstarter I can also see there’s some turn-based combat which looks incredible.

I gotta be honest, usually I am a little apprehensive with playing BxG / harem games. I often find it’s just gratuitous fan service pandered as plot. But I was really surprised as how much I enjoyed playing this. It’s a game that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and is just really relaxing to play. I found myself smiling at the different, yet strong, personalities of the girls and even had a chuckle at our Squire’s oogling (which never felt intrusive).

Perhaps my only reservation with the game was the romance option of Amelie. The game says that she is the squire’s sister but I just wanted it to be a bit more clear they weren’t blood related. I just feel I probably wouldn’t be able to romance her, I would feel a bit icky as she always calls the squire ‘brother’.

From playing the demo, I can definitely tell that a lot of hard work and love has gone into this project. It’s pretty much the perfect merge between a Dating Sim and an RPG, with so many details that fans will love. If you’re interested in the program make sure to check out their Kickstarter page! The page also contains links for where to download the demo.  Maybe they’ll even add a Hugh route as one of the stretch goals (please do it ☺️!)
