PQube Announces BUSTAFELLOWS English Release

In late November, otome fans had hints of a treat in store when PQube games confirmed in their Discord that they had otome news in the works. When the official BUSTAFELLOWS twitter page announced a few days ago that their game would be receiving an English release (plus a sequel), I should have put two and two together. Thankfully, PQube did the math for me and early today announced that they had acquired BUSTAFELLOWS for a 2021 release in the West. So far an official webpage is up confirming that the visual novel will be released on Steam (looks like Windows only from the Steam page) and Switch.  On Twitter PQube did also confirm that they would release a physical copy of the game.  Update 16/1: Physical version is up for pre-order, further information here!

Piecing together from the official website and trailer, in the game you play as a Teuta, a young journalist working in New Sieg. Teuta has the ability to travel back in time into the body of others and she uses this ability not only for her work but to help others. After seeing a corrupt perfectly legit lawyer killed in front of her, Teuta uses her ability to save him. But this ends up opening a whole new can of worms as Teuta delves deeper into the dark underbelly of New Sieg, and romances five hotties along the way.

Twisty urban noir story, gorgeous art and pretty intriguing characters aside, what has me most excited about this announcement is the company. BUSTAFELLOWS will be PQube’s first otome game and it’s fantastic seeing another company give otome game localisation a shot. Of course, whether they stick to it really does depend on the sale figures. But it’s proof that companies are realising that there’s a market out there for otome games. While I can only say the game looks great from the trailer and website, what I can make a comment on is PQube’s quality localisations. I’ve played a few of PQube’s games such as Root Letter and Raging Loop and I’ve never had any issues with grammar, spelling or phrasing within these visual novels. I think we’re all in for a treat with BUSTAFELLOWS release, and it’s just one more thing to look forward to in 2021!
